How gut health is affected by dishwasher tablets and rinse aid

Dishwashers are a common feature in many of our homes but there's a hidden danger to the products we are using every day in our homes, and on the very items we put on our lips, in our mouths and use for our food.

Many dishwasher tablets contain harsh chemical cleaning ingredients which are designed to cut though grease and grime, but they often leave a residue behind.

When we eat and drink from our utensils, cups and dishes, small amounts of these residue chemicals can enter our bodies and mix with our food. Repeated exposure can disrupt the balance of the gut microbiome, and interact with our hormones (endocrine disruptors).

Probiotic eco friendly dishwasher tablets

Negative effects of non-eco dishwasher tablets and rinse aid on gut health:

- Inflammation: Certain chemicals can irritate the gut lining, causing inflammation which can contribute to many chronic health issues

- Imbalance of health bacteria: Regular exposure to these chemicals can cause an imbalance in your gut bacteria which can cause bloating, affect digestion and affect your immunity

- Toxins exposure: Chemical exposure can cause residues to build up in the body which puts extra stress on the liver and hormonal processes

"A number of diseases, including food allergy, esophagitis, gastritis, diabetes, obesity, fatty liver, autoimmune hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, autism spectrum diseases, chronic depression, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases have been linked to defective epithelial barriers in the digestive system and dysbiosis in the microbiota particularly in the gut." - Study 2023

Though this study was conducted on professional dishwashers, we still use these machines daily and even see residue with our own eyes on our dishes.

The yokuu tabs you recommend are genuinely the best eco dishwasher tablets I’ve ever tried…. and I’ve also got the rinse aid, which is also great that it’s plastic free !!

Gosh it is quite shocking what can be found in finish dishwasher products! Looks like I’ll be switching to the eco ones you stock.
